The goal is to protect metadata which leaks out in most chat apps as these are identifiers to you! Nobody should be able to read or listen in unless they were invited to join in participation to the conversation. Our own opinion on these articles is the individual user is responsible for how they act on a platform. Any nefarious or malicious groups will exist whereever they choose every platform is capable of being in use or used by anyone. To say privacy & more secure messaging encourages nefarious acts is ridiculous that's like saying wearing clothes encourages people to become serial killers.

I personally can say with my own experience using the app & engaging with the developers myself that this is a safe app it truly is compared to others in terms of security. I would trust my family on Simplex because I know their metadata isn't being collected, their devices aren't being logged & counted, their messages are not unencrypted & stored on a centralized server where the operator of that can sell that to their "trusted partners" you have the option of choice.
I can host my own chat & file servers allowing me & my family to have our own network on Simplex using our servers to message each other & share photos, videos, & other files. Usernames are not bound to a server like traditional messaging apps do which means they are in control of your account a username is just a name on your profile. The interface of the chat application is simple, easy to use, & customizable allowing you to change colors making the app truly yours which is something most apps try to charge you for like Discord offering this only if you are subscribed to nitro.

The development team listens to feedback when the people give it I & many others participate in an open user group where everyone expresses their opinions on how the app can be improved & every idea is discussed to determine which has the best in mind for the people & not compromise security for anyone. Is there room for improvement yes absolutely everywhere in any product there is always room for improvement & you can join in on that voice what you think. The bottom line is ditch the spyware applications you know you use daily & start seeking alternatives which already exist for your benefit SimpleX is one of those applications for your benefit.
