Simplex Chat has been improving since our last review with stability. While working on chat relays to replace the current implement of how you receive messages now the improvements have affected battery drainage. Simplex is still working on improvementd with voice calls & most of these big changes probably won't be ready untill next year!

While the software may be improving conductivity, human resources, & disciplinary measures are new to the company those need major improvements. I was a Moderator at Simplex to be apart of the team was nice but how I was treated by the founder was not. When I was made Moderator the only instructions I was given to "let the users hang themselves, fire warning shots, & don't shoot to kill first."

With that I was left to interpretate what was expected of me with vague instructions I performed to the best of my duties as you would expect any moderator. As the guidelines say no offtopic which means stuff unrelated towards the app, no gaslighting which means starting or instigating an argument, no inappropriate links, & no sharing contact links.
I kept the peace when things would get abit yellow which 99% had no quarrel but one individual the 0.001% was a troublemaker.

This one particular member is a person who is argumentive, a condescending bully, narcissist, & egotistical would argue with every member in the group if they didn't agree with his suggestions, ideology, or opinions on other things aside from Simplex. This user admitted in public to using bots & LLM's together to troll people while arguing with another member who he threatened to make it his personal mission to harass another member who  reported later that they were being harassed.
With Simplex's protocol you can ban the user but theres nothing to stop them from creating a new identity & rejoining the group; with that there's no way to confirm that a user could be the same user you banned before.

This member has multiple profiles in the Simplex user's group with the groups purpose of being for feedback many users ask questions but few suggest features. Even fewer suggest features & create concept photos to go with them only one did & that was me. Everyone just would reply to each others ideas there was no way to track nor did anyone keep count but the problem to cause it all is discussion about changing the ui of customizing the themes.

Many complained the settings were mixed up all over the place, the color names did not explain what they changed & overall that's confusing for most users which I agree. I created quick concept images to show how I would change it around & shared them. Lots of people agreed that this presentation of the UI would be much better also allowing more flexibility to customize it then what's there now!

You can read all about them here! nobody else in the community has suggested an alternative or created a concept to put on the table of ideas.
Once the troublemaker saw the concept he immediately rejected it with condescending anticdotes. I respectfully replied for other opinions out of 1505 members in the group only 4 users really chat while the rest lurk. Others had liked the idea as new members asked questions I had mentioned the concept & asked for feedback. 

Being it's the only concept & nobody else had suggested any other ideas it was the only idea to show for feedback. New members liked the idea then out of jealousy our troublesome user decided to run a smear campaign. The user went out of their way to let every new member know that I am a volunteer, I'm just a "jannie", the user dislikes me & continues with some anticdote.

There's a line between criticism & being derogatory which the user crossed when they took the time to make it a point to talk to every new member about me. It's more then derogatory it's harassment & defamation. I let it slide for awhile then I issued a warning & had a private conversation through chat with admins.

The user didn't like what I had to say & just responded with complete disrespect & total disregard towards the fact I was made an authority. You don't have to like everyone but you should respect the people in a position above you they were put there for a reason. But the user went on to throw a tantrum making outlandish claims that I am abusing my power by keeping the peace after this particular user creates a scene & starts arguments with others.

The user out of spite used bots & llms to create multiple profiles in the chat which they admitted to another user that this is what they do when they get pissed at people to spite them. I even witnessed him threaten another user within the chat & admitted that they had multiple bots in their chat recording the groups conversation to spite them. The other user who was being harassed by the troublemaker had spoken about improving the app to have better bot detection to keep a group chat ai & bot free having human only spaces.

The troublemaker detested this idea & began their harassment due to Simplex's nature of no user identity there is no way to prove multiple profiles are being used by the same person. But with common sense deductions we can correlate that the troublemaker did keep their word. The troublesome user created multiple profiles messaging Evgeny directly spammimg in dms that I am abusing my power & acting like a tyrant.

Evgeny spoke in the public chat making a statement out of demoting me then we spoke privately days later. I told Evgeny how if there's a problem he should talk to me first Evgeny has no experience in running a staff & admitted that they should have spoken about the situation first with me before speaking to the public. We should have spoken first & no public statement should have been made.

To that end Evgeny told me privately "if it goes to far, the measures must be symmetric or none. both are disruptive, regardless who is right or more disruptive. and some people are naturally more calm, and would behave better so the choice should be either let the whole thing continue, or shutting both, doesn't matter who creates more noise, and who provokes it." No matter whos right or wrong Evgeny wanted me to punish both equally without considering all the factors in an incident.

Being a moderator takes balance not only in establishing order but settling disputes. There's a line when being civlized or hostile about a dispute. Most know being rude about your dispute may work against you & have consequences if going too far. That's why most people should be polite about their case to the moderator in charge.

Continuing on the troublesome user liked to taunt by repeatedly stating over my status as volunteer & how Evgeny made a statement about me. For months to new users who would come in asking questions about simplex whenever I would respond answering their questions & helping them learn about the app.
I must draw the line between being respectful & derogatory which I removed the defamating statement.

The troublesome user spams that I am a tyrant for keeping the peace & preventing discord then privately messages Evgeny saying I am abusing my power then hours later Evgeny comes on & demotes me then doesn't talk to me till a day later. With no real explanation only blind trust in 2 users with no identity or proof they are not one in the same out of 1505 members of the group chat.

After finally responding to me saying in short my help is no longer needed. With no explanation I told him he jumped the gun in taking action without discussion. He didn't even look into the facts of the incident & after 100 messages any discussion is gone since the chat history only displays 100 of the latest messages & in a mixed order.

Evgeny accused me of being a new user asking questions to myself after the new user spoke out for defending me because they thought Evgeny's actions were unreasonable & without cause as all I did was help a new user on Simplex. Then Evgeny said I care about my opinions more then ours referring to Simplex which I have no idea what he's talking about.

Never once have I ever spoken about using other apps, discouraged the use of Simplex, or even had a difference of opinion on a specifix matter. So I believe this was a vague terrible excuse to make up with nothing at all to it. But with my long response to Evgeny's accusations he has not responded to me in over a week but talks to others in the group chat & engages in politics.

Never have I experienced such unprofessionalism or mistreatment coming from a multi-million dollar company. I expected fairness & to be treated as a proper employee would. Even volunteers get professional courtesy as prospects for a future career & it's apart of the ethical standards of a labor force. 

You don't take action with no explanation or discussion prior, you don't take the word of 1 person who admits to pretending to be multiple people out of 1505 members. You stand by the side of your team nobody should have to be in a hostile environment or be punished for doing their duties.

No requirement of any job is to take crap or total disrespect from someone else. If Evgeny expects his staff to tolerate people who have total disrespect also make it a point to verbally abuse you & defamate your character to new users. That may work in the UK but in the US we treat all employees from volunteers all the way up to the president with fairness. We don't take action without discussion, we don't leave a employee with no resources or vague interpertations of job duties, & we don't side with one person when 99% of the community has 0 issues with you.

The Facts
  • Evgeny took the word of one user who pretends to be multiple people admittedly.
  • 99.9% has no complaints
  • Evgeny didn't care about the harassment & defamation I was facing for months from the user.
  • Evgeny took action without knowing the facts or thinking it through.
  • Evgeny left our discussion unfinished & unanswered which I am waiting on his response for over one week while he chats with random people everyday in the group chat.
Do you consider that a fair way to be treated by your boss as less then equal? We don't do this behavior in the US we investigate the situation, we stick by our team, & we handle disciplinary actions appropriately if & when the correct incident occurs. We most certainly don't throw our associates under the bus over one claim with 0 evidence.

This is the experience of the inner working of Simplex behind the scenes what it means to be employed. This is what you can expect if you're seeking a job with the company this is the level of treatment you wilk receive.
